About the centre

Welcome to Cotswolds Riding, located in the picturesque Cotswold village of Stanton. We have been offering riding since 1975, with over 50 well-schooled horses and ponies for all levels of rider, including children. We specialise in accelerated learning, helping each rider achieve their personal goal, be it eventing, cross-country, or hacking confidently. Our purpose-built facility caters to beginners and advanced riders alike, with a team of instructors trained by Jill Carenza. We are open year-round, providing access to miles of paths and bridleways with magnificent views.

Before you ride

Arrival

We welcome people to visit us and view any lessons taking place. If you require more information, please telephone us first to ensure a team member is available to show you around and answer queries. Due to Health and Safety reasons, we cannot allow members of the public around the stables unaccompanied. Please ensure your Rider Registration Form is completed before riding.

What to wear

We have riding hats that meet current British safety standards, which you may borrow. All riders must wear body protectors for lessons and hacks; we have some available to borrow free of charge. Footwear should be sturdy, preferably with a ½ inch heel; trainers, Wellington boots, Chelsea boots, desert boots, dealer boots, and fashion boots are fine. Sandals, high heels, and flip-flops are not allowed. Jodhpurs, jogging trousers, thick leggings, or comfortable stretchy trousers are recommended. Trousers must be long. Shorts and dresses are not allowed. A sweatshirt or T-shirt is fine, and waterproof/windproof jackets are useful. Gloves are advisable in cold weather. It is advisable to remove any jewellery. Exceptionally long hair should be tied back.

Rider weight policy

The maximum weight of rider we can accommodate is approximately 114 kg (18 stone / 252 lbs).

Booking policy

Initial enquiries can be made via our website, email, telephone, or by calling into the office. We can provide options or advise on what suits your requirements. There is an answer-phone service, and if you leave a message, we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible to explain everything in more detail. A Rider Registration Form, mandatory for our insurance, must be completed before you ride or participate in any activities. For minors, it must be signed by an adult (18+).

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel your lesson or hack, please be aware that it is usually too late for us to replace your booking. We are a busy yard and need to ensure the correct staff and horses are prepared for your booked time. If there is a 'NO SHOW' on the day, full payment will be required.

Cancellations are free up to 0 hours before your ride.
